Jeroen van de Graaf (1960) holds a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Amsterdam (1985) and a PhD in informatics from the University of Montreal (1998). He has been researching cryptography for more than three decades, always with a focus on privacy and transparency. He has been studying voting systems and protocols for more than fifteen years. Today he is a professor at the Department of Computer Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, where he is a member of T-REX, the Theory Expertise Laboratory. He resides in the country since 1998 with a permanent visa (Dutch does not allow dual nationality); therefore he never voted in Brazil.
